Howard Happenings

edit:casino time:2019-02-09

A local family is in need of aluminum can tabs which will help them to stay at the Ronald McDonald House while their child is seen at Geisinger in Danville. Please save your soda or beer can tabs and get them to me at Insurance Office soon. I’m hoping that the Askey family will share the latest update on their family situation that I’ll be able to pass along to you here.

We also have a tab drop off location in the Beech Creek at Larry Butler’s Woodmen Life office along Route 150 across from the Armstrong plant for those who are willing to save and donate the tabs, too. I believe the American Legion in Beech Creek will accept the tabs there for the Askey family as well.

A little tab can go a long way in making a difference for those families who have children that need hospital treatment at Geisinger and who need to stay at the Ronald McDonald House there. Keep on saving those tabs to help!

Howard Parks and Recreation still have a few calendars left for sale. This year the calendars honor the artistic talents and the memory of the late Bertha “Sis” Lomison.

We want to sell the last few calendars so that you are able to enjoy the beautiful artwork each month. There are some historical paintings that will bring back memories of buildings long gone now.

There are just three calendars left that are available at the Insurance Office, Inc. on Walnut Street during daytime office hours. Each calendar is just $10 each. Stop in or call 625-2488 for calendar availability as the final few will be sold on a first come basis.

Howard Area Lions will offer their annual Sweetheart Dinner at the Howard fire hall on Feb. 9. This is a free sit-down dinner of turkey, ham and all the trimmings for residents living in the Lions Club service area who are 60+ years of age and older. The meal is served at noon. Come early for a seat with your friends and fellowship time. There will also be chances for cash prizes to be given away as well as a 50/50 drawing.
